Welcome to ILN-terviews, a series of profiles of ILN member firm attorneys, designed to give a unique insight into the lawyers who make up our Network.

For our latest interview, we chose ILN member, Antonello Corrado of EXP Legal – Italian & International Law Firm in Italy.

In one sentence, how would you describe your practice?
A reliable medium-sized corporate and commercial Italian firm, with broad expertise in key areas of the Italian and International transaction.

Who would be your typical client?
Italian foreign and  multinational medium and large-sized corporations; financial institutions; wealthy individuals.

What would you like clients and potential clients to know about you?
That besides being a legal advisor and consultant, I can be the legal member of the clients’ teams that design, implement, develop and grow projects and ventures.

What has been your most challenging case? Why?
The assistance of a foreign client for a 280mln Euros acquisition of a distressed company in the context of a public competitive sale managed by the Ministry of Economic Development.

The progressive stunning growth and success of EXP Legal after the radical restructuring of the firm in consequence of a spin-off occurred in 2015.

What do you do when you’re not practicing law?
Competitive sailing and rowing are my hobbies, together with reading and classical music concerts. I don’t disregard the idleness … “O Meliboe, deus nobis haec otia fecit” (Virgilio, Bucoliche)

What would surprise people most about you?
My teaching activity for the education of lawyers and judges, in underdeveloped and developing countries. In 1992, I was one of the first Italian teachers in Albania after the fall of the Communist regime in 1990.

What has been your most memorable ILN experience?
Actually two: celebrating the 25th ILN anniversary in London in 2013 and the  organization of the ILN’s International Meeting in Taormina (Sicily) in 2016 by EXP Legal.

What career would you have chosen if you weren’t a lawyer?
Explorer/teacher/communication and PR.
